You’ve had a birthday shout hooray!
We want to sing to you today,
One year older and wiser too,
Happy birthday to you!
Jack is 10! ! ! There was a time when we couldn’t imagine that we would get to this point. Those of you who have known us a long time know what a rocky start he had when he was born. Having been born with one whopper of a heart defect, and having gone through three open-heart surgeries before the age of five, he is to all who know him, a true miracle.
We made a conscious effort not to let his heart condition define who he is. We try, and I think succeed, to live a very normal life. Jack loves Pokemon, riding his bike, playing video games, staying up late, teasing his sister, and drawing cartoon monsters. He even received for his birthday one of these:
When in Idaho… right?
His life is not defined by his heart condition. Rather it’s defined by who he is. And on this very special day I can honestly say that,
he is pure joy, honesty, laughter, and kindness.
Happy 10th Birthday Jack!
Happy Birthday Jack!
He looks so much like you Wendy. I think I missed the info on his heart condition. What a miracle!
That “cake” looks so yummy too.
Happy Birthday Jack! Your cake looks so yummy and I bet you will have a blast with your new gun!
I love these pictures of you, Jack, especially your smile that goes ear to ear! And thanks for the link on the heart condition. I had known about it, but didn’t know the details. Happy Birthday Jack! I think you are great!!
He is such a doll, I love his smile! What a great celebration. My boys saw his gun and now they are green with envy! They also saw that he loves Pokemon and Will said that he was his long lost brother. Funny!
Happy Birthday Jack. We love you!!!
I’ll never forget when Jack was born. I still remember some of what Ralf said when he bore his testimony that month. You had the whole ward praying for you guys for months. It’s awesome to see Jack doing so well. He’s such a cutie with that SMILE!!!
I linked to your site…from another heart munchkin … HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK! My son, Owen, also has HLHS and is six months… there are days when we wonder if he’ll make it to his first birthday. You bring us so much hope!!! You are a walking blessing… enjoy your 10th birthday!
Andrea
You are our dear sweet wonderful Jack and so glad we can be with you often. Love from Grandma
It seems unbelievable that Jack has now turned 10 and can live a nearly normal life with the help of all his medication. We are so thankful that he recovered so well after his three operations which held us all breathless at the time. It was a hard job for all of his family but when we look at the good looking boy with that broad smile, then we know that you couldn´t resist being with him! We hope that we will meet him personally some time.
A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK and many happy returns of the day!
Love, best wishes and lots of good health from Wendy and Peter – Austria
Happy Birthday Jack!
I won’t be showing my Jack the picture of your gun. So if our families ever meet up let’s just keep that little bit of info to ourselves, k? Great, thanks!
Oh, and is that Texas sheet cake I see? Yumm-o!
