Life has been a little crazy here lately. More on that another day. For now, I am another year older. Ralf and the kids whipped up some cinnamon rolls for breakfast and baked this yummy Texas sheet cake to celebrate.
I was surprised with a shiny new cherry red cruiser bike just right for trawling around the neighborhood.
My birthday cards were an assortment of bathroom humor, celebrity news, and Star Wars themes. I’m guessing the kids had the run of the local Hallmark yesterday.
As I was rummaging through boxes searching for an old photo, I came upon my baby book. Nostalgia overcame me so I’m posting a few images of me through the years.
My birth day.
A little like the Heat Miser, don’t ya think?
Age 8
Come on, don’t tell me you didn’t own a plaid blouse with a lacy collar and bow back in the day. And the double imagery makes the most of my feathered bangs and extra large teeth.
Age 10
Still the big teeth and feathered hair, although this is about the time I became a perpetual permer. I’m still anxiously anticipating perms coming back. Anyone know when that’ll happen?
Age 14.
In the thick of the 80’s. The popped collar, sweater vest, again the feathered bangs, and caked-on eyeliner.
Senior prom at 17.
The ultimate in big hair… and lace.
Age 22
Our engagement picture. See, my hair has tamed WAY down although if you look close enough the spirit of feathering can still be found and will never entirely leave me.
Age 31
Three kids down and one to go. Wash and wear is the name of the game.
This is actually almost 2 years ago but it’s my most recent portrait. I look pretty much the same. And I am now, officially, an age that sounds too old to be true, and not at all the age I feel,
…. drumroll….
I am now…
38 years old!
Have an awesome week.
Happy Birthday to you Wenderful!! I wish I had known the last two days when I saw you – duh. I love the pictures through the years. I can’t believe how much your 8-year old picture looks like Jack. You have the same smile. Once again, Happy, Happy Birthday!
Welcome to 38…I have been here a few months and it’s not as bad as it sounds! You are gorgeous. Happy Birthday.
Happy Happy Birthday!! I always love when people post pictures of themselves growing up! Big Hair was the thing… I might even have some pictures like that.
Happy 38th Birthday!!! I’ll be joining you in the next 6 months 😉
I loved looking at your old photos. I actually had the really flat, overly smooth hair growing up. It wasn’t until the very end of high school and early college that my hair GREW.
Tomorrow is my haircut day and I am always contemplating a new “do”.
I’m an avid reader of your sister’s blog and wanted to say Happy Birthday! Also, I love your hair!!!! So lovely! I wish mine could look that good.
Happy, happy birthday! You look so great and you are so young. 38 isn’t bad at all! Besides, you still look 28!
Have a wonderful day!
Happy Birthday! Love the photos… you are beautiful!!! Have a happy, happy day!
Happy birthday to you sweet sister! I am glad you had a wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday! Mine was on the 10th. I’m far older than you…47.
You are so cute. You just get better with age.
Once I turned 35 (and 25) I just started rounding up! So you can say you’re 40 until you’re 45! I love that picture from when you were 10; I think we went to the same salon!
Visiting via BATW!
Happy birthday Wendy.. I’m singing “through the years’ by Kenny rogers while I scroll through your photos:) They are hilarious.
Happy Birthday! What an awesome picture progression of your relationship with your husband 🙂 I assume that is him with you for Prom?
Happy Birthday! I must say you are a young chick though– TEN years younger than I am. Sigh. I am also jealous of the Texas Sheet Cake. It looks awesome:) What a cool family you have!
