Believe it or not, my kids are getting weary of my camera in their faces. Shocking, I know. So I’m giving them a break for this week’s theme of Friendship.
As I was talking to our very good friends last week at church, they mentioned that their middle-school daughter had just become the foster mom of a service-dog puppy. She was in the midst of house-training and preparing this puppy to start her training as a service dog. You can imagine what was going through my mind. The countless possibilities of photographing this sweet puppy and her darling foster mom, of course! So, I asked if I could come by this week to take a few pictures. I knew this would be a great opportunity to fulfill this week’s theme of friendship.
To me, this image portrays the new found friendship of a puppy and her foster mom. It’s the beginning of 15 months of hard work, maturity, growth, and bonding by both of them, after which they’ll have to face the bittersweet good-bye when will be placed in a forever home to love and serve a forever family. I’m not sure I could do it.
Now, head on over to my friend Kelsey Anderson | Las Vegas Photographer for her take on this week’s theme.
And if you missed it, here’s last week’s EYES theme.
Aww, that first shot is super sweet.

i had a friend in high school that did this several times…..it was bittersweet, but they also ended up getting one of the dogs back as a breeder….so sweet! this is a gorgeous image….maybe you can document the journey!
I am a die hard doggie fan! My sister and I volunteered at a huge compound (somewhere in Marin, maybe) where they breed and train these beautiful creatures to aid those people who need service dogs (also part of our lifelong philanthropic project). I loved every minute of it and never wanted to leave. Beautiful captures.
