Gardening – Idaho Fashion

So,

the first time we had a garden of any type during our 16 years of marriage was 2 years ago when we moved to Utah and had space enough to grow something substantial.

Ralf built two 4’x4′ garden boxes and we did a little Square Foot gardening.

It was deemed a success although not everything came up and we forgot to water every now and then.

Still, we enjoyed some tomatoes, a little lettuce, some swiss chard and green onions.

The second time we tried our hand at gardening is this summer.

It started out as a few garden boxes.

But it has turned into… MUCH more!

When in Idaho, do as the Idahoans?

Remember when I posted about the boxes Ralf built a few months ago?

Well, here they are now…

And in addition,  Ralf decided we needed out own corn field…(eat your heart out Frank!)

And potato, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, pepper, and sunflower patch…

And a fence to boot…

Can you guess what we’ve been spending time doing this summer, besides taking road trips?

Now I need to figure out what I’m going to do with all this produce. . .

Enjoy your 4th of July!

We’re off again.

More pictures to come!

  3. I love to garden, and your veggies look so great! Listen, I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Aunt Julie, Veggie Mom’s SIL. Veggie is retiring today as the proprietress at Eat Your Veggies! today, and I’m stepping in. I realize I have really BIG shoes to fill, but I’m up to the challenge. Please come by and wish Veggie a fond farewell on her last post. Look forward to seeing you over at my new place!

  4. Your blog makes ‘Cowpoke Town’ look like an heavenly place to raise a wonderful family! I think our kids are looking in the same place. Anyway the home I just looked at and the surrounding areas looked familiar to me.

They are looking in a constellation area. 🙂 Do you know this place? It is about 15 minutes from Costco.

I love all your beautiful green space and gorgeous vegetables!
I hope your 4th of July was wonderful and you enjoyed your visit.

  5. WOW, that’s a great garden. We only have 2 planters, but during our week away, they have produced. I wish I had space like you to do more.

Your doggie is a beauty … daughter too 😉
