I'm Hitting the Bar…

I’m in an exercise rut.

Well, not exactly a rut.

I can’t motivate myself to get out of bed at 4:45 every morning and drive 20 minutes on the cold dark lonely streets to get to the gym.  And it has nothing to do with this class I suffered through a while back.

I need a change.

So this weekend while visiting my cute, hip, urbanite of a little sister, she shared with me the hottest exercise trend in San Francisco.

Have you heard of this?

It’s a mix of ballet, pilates, and strength training.  The classes are wildly popular and people swear by them.

She told me I should check and see if anyone offers classes near me.

Near me?  Are you kidding?  My closest gym isn’t even near me.  I knew there was no chance.  But I Googled it anyway.

The closest class to me is either in Redmond, Washington or San Francisco.

But…

Guess what?!!

For those of us who are not a stone’s throw away from a major (or minor) metro area, we can order these:

So I whipped my exhausted credit card number out of my wallet brain and ordered right then and there.

Will it make my rear look like this?

rear

Will it give me long lean arms like this?

arm

Will I be this bendy?

stretch

Most likely not.

But, at least I won’t feel the guilt when I switch that beastly alarm clock off at 4:44 and attempt to get my coveted 8 hours of sleep.

I’ll let you know how it goes…

  1. Yes, it will make you look like that! Let me know how it goes. I plan to hit the Bar Method in approximately 8 weeks (giving me 4 weeks to recover post baby) and turn this mush into muscle.

  2. Do you have to install a bar? I am going to order Tracy Anderson’s work out video (as soon as I am able to not be exhausted) because she trains Madonna and Gwyneth Paltro. Maybe I will look hot after that!

  3. I want a review once you receive them! I work too many hours to exercise outside the house, unless I go running! That sounds fun!

  4. It’s true, all the dville ladies love it and look hot. Myself excepted, I’m slogging at the gym with no results. Darn cookies.

  5. Ooh, sounds great! I am so “tae-bo’d” out!! I need something different.

Not like I’ve actually been DOING Tae Bo lately, but I did it for years. And I know all of the annoying sayings, facial movements, mess-ups, and quirks. Especially that one really annoying girl that is so uncoordinated that she couldn’t balance a checkbook. lol

  6. Our gym is a few blocks away. Still too far. If I can’t do it at home, exercise just doesn’t happen.

    (Who am I kidding . . . it doesn’t usually happen anyway!)

  7. Oh, to be able to move my body and be able to do all the exercises I love to do again. I loved doing pilates.

I sure hope your mom does well with her surgery.
Are you close to Meridian? Our son and his family lives there.

I am sure glad I know you are you… and Amber is Amber:) I haven’t any idea why my bloglist automatically put Ambers address with your name!

Thanks for your visit. I think your mom is wonderful and ahs a beautiful family.

  8. Good-luck with that one! 🙂 I’ve pretty much been in a rut since the Brekster came. Don’t think I’m moving out of it any time soon either. Maybe I can exercise vicariously through you!

  9. Good luck Wendy. You can do it! You may just love it and get addicted to it as well. We’ll be looking for the strongest, most fit woman the next time we come to see you–in a couple of weeks”)

  10. Fun times! When I first saw this advertised, I thought it had something to do with Martini’s and pick-up lines. And I’m just not “flexible” enough for that kind of exercise!

  11. What!?!? You’re not motivated to get out of bed at 4:45 in the morning and drive to the gym? What is wrong with you!? ha ha… The videos look neat though. I do workout videos at home because they are so convenient and much cheaper than the gym.

  12. I’m enjoying all too well my exercise break, but I know as soon as I am over my recovery phase, I need to get back into things.

Sometimes it is easier to exercise on YOUR time rather than the SCHEDULED CLASS.
