Is it the end of August already? I’m dragging my feet to send my kids back to school tomorrow and once again be enslaved to regimented days and routines, making lunches and getting up with the alarm clock, carpool schedules and homework duty. Every year I say it and every year it’s more true. Summer goes by wayyyyy too fast! I wish it would last longer.
This summer my camera of choice was my iphone. It was the most convenient and portable tool to document our family life. I should fill this post with iphone pics, but I won’t because they’re still on my phone and have yet to make it onto my computer. So I will share one of the rare days that I took out my big camera to document our family being ourselves. This was one evening after dinner when my two youngest boys were shooting hoops in front of our house. My heart smiles when I see my kids getting along so well and this summer these two were virtually inseparable. They spend days at a time in their room building Legos, creating make believe worlds, and would emerge every now and then for a snack or a quick game on the Playstation. I will be sad when they grow up enough to leave this period behind them and move on to “cooler” pursuits that don’t involve each other. When that happens, I hope they will eventually find each other again and remain the best of friends.
This is “What After-Dinner Hoops Looks Like”.

So happy you captured your sweet boys like this together. A perfect reminder not to take this time for granted, as it too will pass as quickly as the summers. Would love to see your iPhone captures as well. I agree, its just the perfect camera for everyday life.
